Onigiri Cooking Class – (3 PM)

August 4 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$15

What is Onigiri?

Made with Japanese short-grain rice, this dish involves rinsing, soaking, and steaming the rice before shaping it into triangles, rounds, or cylinders. It often includes a filling and is typically wrapped in nori (roasted seaweed).

Welcome to our Onigiri class, a highlight of the “Journey To The East” series! Onigiri, a traditional Japanese rice ball, is a beloved comfort food known for its simple yet delightful flavors. Shaped into triangles, rounds, or cylinders and often wrapped in nori, onigiri has been a staple in Japanese cuisine for centuries.

This class is inspired by Hitomi, who joined us through a two-year grant to enhance the Asian Cultures Museum with her expertise. Her dedication to Japanese culinary traditions has been instrumental in shaping our classes and events.

We’re excited to honor Hitomi’s vision and share her love for onigiri with you. Our instructors, Alison and Richard, are here to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

Feel free to ask questions and engage with us throughout the class. We’re here to help you learn and enjoy every step of making onigiri!
