Mochi Cooking Class – (12 PM)

August 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

$15

What is Mochi?

Mochi is made from glutinous rice that is soaked, steamed, and then pounded into a sticky, smooth dough. It is shaped into small, round cakes and can be enjoyed plain or filled with sweet or savory fillings.

Welcome to our Mochi class, part of the “Journey To The East” series! Mochi, a traditional Japanese rice cake, is loved for its chewy texture and delightful sweetness. Made from glutinous rice, mochi has been a cherished part of Japanese cuisine for centuries. This class is inspired by Hitomi, whose expertise and passion have enriched the Asian Cultures Museum through a special two-year grant. Her contributions have been instrumental in shaping our cooking classes and events. We’re thrilled to honor Hitomi’s vision and share her love for mochi with you. Our instructors, Alison and Richard, are here to guide you through the process. Please feel free to ask questions and engage with us throughout the class—we’re here to help you enjoy every step!
